We use a variety of plant-based materials that hold both environmental and socio-cultural value. We intend to embody rather than imitate the knowledge systems of artisans and rural communities. Our artisan-designer collaboration creates well-fit forms and patterns that balance aesthetic and functionality. Our artisans use their skills and techniques to transform the ideations and prototypes into scalable, market-ready products.
We use materials that are breathable, durable, flexible and versatile, for example –
- Bamboo: Extracted from the plant's stem and leaves.
- Jute: Sourced from the plant stem, prized for its shiny brown color.
- Water hyacinth: An aquatic plant, once considered a weed, now a valuable resource.
- Rattan: A vine-like palm often used in furniture, evoking nostalgic memories.
- And other grasses.
We operate across various states in India. Our artisan/rural communities collaborate in tandem with our designers and technical experts improving the value chain: from raw material procurement to final product delivery. We conduct consistent research, development and innovation in both materials and processes. We strive to balance the 3 pillars of sustainability: planet, people and profit.
